Life Care Center of Ocala is within an hour and a half of Orlando and Tampa, Florida, situated near many horse farms. Long known for its freshwater springs, Ocala has plenty of activities for visitors to enjoy. For a day trip, we suggest:

  • Don Garlit’s Museum of Drag Racing displays the history of drag racing from its roots, dating before 1950, to present day. The museum features more than 300 cars and thousands of artifacts from the sport.
  • The Appleton Museum of Art is a museum with more than 16,000 pieces from Europe, China, Africa, the Americas and the Middle East. The building, made from Italian marble, annually hosts a number of temporary exhibits.
  • Silver Springs is one of Florida’s oldest tourist attractions. It features one of the largest artesian springs in the world. The unique draw of the springs is tours with glass bottom boats, giving visitors a clear view of the Florida wildlife and plant life clear through the water.
  • Open since 1978, Wild Waters Park is a water park close to Silver Springs with flume rides, a 450,000 gallon wave pool, a sand volleyball court, a children’s play space and other areas to relax.
